Uropodal protopod grooved on outer margin; insertion of endopod slightly proximal to that of exopod.
Lysmata grabhami presents a continuous middorsal white stripe from the tip of the rostrum to the end of the telson and the outer border of the
uropodal exopods is also white (Figure 1).
The
uropodal endopod in the dissected specimen displays variation in article number between left and right uropod.
Presumable synapomorphies among species of Chorocaris and Rimicaris are the following: the tendency of a rostral reduction, nonacuminate antennal tooth of the carapace, nonmarginally dentate posterolateral margin of pleura of fourth and fifth pleonal somites, the presence of a distolateral transverse suture on the antennal scale, and the nonacuminate
uropodal protopod.
Stage [IVA.sub.1] animals were "more postlarval" with respect to the tail region (e.g., formation of
uropodal endopodite and acquisition of the postlarval number of terminal setae on the telson).
Morphometrics.--Eight characters (body length, body width, eye diameter, rostrum width, length of flagellum on antennule, length of flagellum on antenna, length of last peduncular article on antenna, and length of
uropodal exopod) were measured on an approximately equal number of males and females in each of the two sampled years; sample sizes ranged from 10 to 34 per beach (Lessios et al.
The uropod is distally tapering, and its flagellum is about the same size as the
uropodal ramus.
