By adopting Asai's (1999) model, this study aims to explore empirically whether the
tradeoff between output and inflation in the short run in Russia is inversely associated with the variance of the inflation rate as hypothesised by the new classical theory, or by the mean rate of inflation as hypothesised by the new Keynesian theory.
